9.25" H. in handpainted cold cast resin. There are numerous similarities between Hathor and Isis. It is said they are half sisters, both daughters of Nut, a sky goddess, but with fathers which were RA, (hathor) and Geb (ISIS) some recounts make ra the father of Isis, however most do not. Hathor was also the wife of RA, and the also the wife of Horus, the elder, the offspring of that union being Horus the younger........Egyptians in their worships were prone to occasional paradoxes....... Isis is later given the role of the Mother of Horus who is the offspring Isis and Osiris. Perhaps the presence of paradoxes and discrepencies in the Egyptian religion is the rise and predominance of god-cults within the religion, for example Hathor's role as a goddess of existance, giving life to Egypt, and a goddess of the deluge of the Nile, changes with the power of the cult of Osiris, then she is seen as the goddess who dispenses the much needed water to the dead as they arrive in the underworld. She is seen as a supporter of the dead, like osiris.
