This is the Chinese Quan yin, in the white robes that relate her to Mary and other beneficent motherly figures throughout world religions. She gave up her right to enter into the state of Nirvana upon a life of Buddhist purity because her people were forbade entry and did not life in a equitable society. She could not leave them until they too were without suffering. She is shown holding the blue vial, containing waters of life which she is pouring about her.
